National Academies’ Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders

Vaibhav Narayan, Vice President, Research Technology, at Janssen R&D, and RADAR-CNS project co-lead, was a member of the organising committee of a workshop on “Harnessing Mobile Devices for Nervous System Disorders” held by the United States National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine; Health and Medicine Division.

The workshop in Washington DC, USA, explored current developments and opportunities for using mobile technology to advance research and treatment of central nervous system (CNS) disorders.

It brought together a diverse group from federal research and regulatory agencies, academia, industry, and foundations, along with advocates presenting the patient point of view. They discussed how to ensure that technological advances are translated into something meaningful for individuals and society as a whole.

The workshop also addressed key concerns that health care systems and society will have to grapple regarding digital technologies, including evidence generation, regulations, adoption, privacy, and data ownership.

A publication 'Harnessing Mobile Devices for Nervous System Disorders' outlining the workshop is available online via  The National Academies Press.
